Hit Zone Tennis Air Tee FAQ
Welcome to our Hit Zone tennis practice tee Q&A page! We have done our best to try and answer any questions you may have about the Hit Zone hitting tees. We spent 4 years developing the Hit Zone and receiving the patent. As a result, we have a lot of knowledge about the Hit Zone! If you don't find the answer to your question here, feel free to contact us through our contact page or email us at sales@HitZoneProShop.com.
What's special about the Hit Zone air tee for tennis?
Others have created a baseball air tee and received a patent on it, but they all did the logical thing! They used material, such as PVC plastic pipe,to deliver the air stream. As with the Tee, you hit it, you're going to knock it over or break it. We use a fabric sleeve to deliver the air. Your bat or racket hit it - no big deal - you'll swing right through it! Our idea was so unique, the U.S. Patent office gave us a good old patent on the Hit Zone air powered batting tee!
What age group is the Hit Zone practice tee good for?
The Hit Zone air tee is a great training tool for all age groups! We have 2 year olds swinging away on it! On the other end of the spectrum, there are tennis players in their 80's smacking the ball on the Hit Zone tennis air tee!
With the younger children, as long as they can swing the racquet, they are ready for the Hit Zone. With the younger kids, though, adult supervision is necessary to insure it's proper use.
For player 6 or younger, the Hit Zone Jr is probably your best choice. We do include a bonus 14.5 inch sleeve so your kids can grow with their Hit Zone or practice at different heights. The Hit Zone comes with a 9" tall sleeve. When using the 14.5" sleeve, the ball floats high enough where older kids
can also use the JR unit.
What's the difference between the "Baseball" & "Tennis unit?
The Baseball/Softball unit comes with a baseball logo on it and comes with 8 plastic dimpled training balls. The Tennis Hit Zone has a tennis logo and comes with 8 foam tennis balls.. They both function the same, so if you would like to use it to practice for both sports, go for it!
What type of outlet do I need?
A standard 110V is needed. The Hit Zone practice tee comes with a grounded cord. Use a grounded 3 prong extension cord. It is also very important that when using the Hit Zone outdoors, you use a GFI grounded outlet.
Need 220-220V - no problem. For an additional $10, we can out fit your Hit Zone with 220V and the proper plug for your country. We will also need to calculate the shipping.
Can I adjust the height of the ball?
The stream of air coming from the Hit Zone Jr is not adjustable, so there are a few easy ways to adjust the height of the ball. The sleeve that comes with the Hit Zone air tee is 9 inches long. This height covers the typical strike zonefor most people - from kids to adults. We will also mail you a bonus 14.5 inch sleeve so you can float the ball almost 6 inches higher!
You can also adjust the height of the balls by the type of ball you use. The over-sized foam balls will float a little higher than the Gamma foam balls.
The Hit Zone Deluxe - Model # T3-HZBV - has a variable speed control that allows you to adjust the stream of air. This will allow you to adjust the height of the ball. Using a lighter ball will give you a bigger variance in the height the ball will float. You can also use the 14.5 inch sleeve for practicing at a
different height.
What types of balls work best on the Hit Zone?
The Deluxe Hit Zone features a variable speed control which allows you to control the air flow and has a powerful 4 hp motor. These features allow the player to use a wide variety of balls and to adjust the height. There is a wider variance in the height adjustment when using the lighter foam balls.
The Tourna brand foam tennis ball (6 included) is the recommended ball for use on the Hit Zone Deluxe. Aerodynamics is very important with the Hit Zone, so the hair less tennis balls float great!
Tennis balls and the short court balls (except the red ball) will work on the Deluxe unit, but it takes a little more effort. It is important to use tennis balls that are more worn so there is not as much fuzz. Depending on which type of ball you are using, since their density and weight vary, you will also
need to adjust the air flow to accommodate each type of ball.
What's the scoop on the sleeve?
The sleeve is made out of a heavy duty Rip Stop nylon. It is very durable and made for outdoor use. Additional replacement sleeves can be purchased for $10. Additional sleeves are available in our online store.|
